Shoester, our dog, pretty much has a love seat all to himself, but that means that I have a few pillows that are stained with doggy-drool and an eye sore to look at. So when I found this idea on Pinterest, I had to give it a try; I love when I can re-purpose something or make it new again instead of having to replace it entirely. I’ll walk you through the steps I took to revamp these well loved pillows (Okay, this ones actually pretty new, but it’s not the right color).
First, pick out a fabric you like, make sure it’s not too thick because it will be very difficult to tie if it is. I recommend a yard of fabric for a standard sized throw pillow, approximately 16 in. x 16 in..
Lay fabric out flat and place the throw pillow dead center of the fabric.
Fold bottom half of fabric up over the pillow as shown.
Do the same to the top half so that you pillow is now completely covered and looks like the picture.
Now, pull out those gift wrapping skills and pull the corners of each side in the make a point/triangle. If there is any hangover of fabric when you fold it over, just fold it under so that it doesn’t throw off your edges.
Fold end over pillow.
It should look like this once bother end have been folded over.
Cross ends over each other and pull so that your cover looks like this.
Wrap your ends around again and then turn the back side out to tie them together to secure the knot.
Once your knot is nice and tight, flip it back over and tuck ends into the pocket of fabric.
(I know you can’t see it in the photo, but once you get there you’ll know what I’m talking about).
And there you have it, the easiest DIY throw cover ever! Or at least that I’ve found, that is.
Below are the three pillows I revamped tonight, the one in the middle is flipped around to show you what the cover looks like on the other side, a very simple look.
I always love when my couch gets a face lift!
