Since I bought a new bed set for our master bedroom, the room seems to be missing something. I love the bed set, but the gray bedding next to the gray walls was a little much, so I wanted to do something to break it up. I kind of fell in love with the idea of framing the bed with curtains. Matt thinks it’s a dumb idea to put curtains where there isn’t a window, but he also knows that because I’m me, I’m going to do it anyway.
Before (Oct. 2010 – May 2012) Before (May 2012 – May 2013)
Now! May 2013
All I did was add curtains and a rod, but it really dressed the room up. We don’t have a headboard, though I have thought about making one. I really like our Better Together canvas over the bed, and I worry that a headboard would make it look cluttered. However, I think the curtains do a nice job of framing the canvas and the bed and bringing the two together.
The curtains were $14.99 for two panels at TJMaxx and the curtain rod was also $14.99 at Reny’s. So it was a pretty affordable face lift for our master bedroom. Also, our bedspread is Old Hollywood by Jennifer Lopez at Kohl’s. Now, if only I could convince Matt that we NEED this light fixture for over the bed…
I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up on that one… maybe for the next house.
I love having the side tables clean and pretty. Though our side tables and lamps don’t match, I still like them. Maybe, when we move into the next house, I’ll invest in some matching ones and find these two new homes within our house.
I really love this color combo, it has just the right amount of glam and masculinity, creating a great balance for our master bedroom.
So pretty! I am so happy with how this turned out, and as for Matt, he’s just going to have to pretend that canvas is a window.
