Chocolate Hazelnut Sugar Scrub
Ladies, get yourselves ready for the most indulgent DIY beauty product you will ever try! This Chocolate Hazelnut Sugar Scrub can be made at home in minutes and will leave your skin feeling silky smooth!
The best part, it smells like brownie batter! Just don’t eat it, I mean you can, but it probably won’t be pleasant.
I love making homemade sugar scrubs. With a base recipe of 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of oil, you can easily customize them with essential oils, extracts and more.
In this case, I pulled everything right out of my pantry: grapeseed oil, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and hazelnut extract – yup, just FOUR ingredients!
Much like my gingerbread sugar scrub and peppermint sugar scrub, this also makes a fabulous gift! Perfect as favors for baby and bridal showers or a girls night in and a little bit goes a long way! I prefer to use either coconut oil or grapeseed oil in my sugar scrubs.
The coconut oil has some really great health properties while the grapeseed oil yields a softer texture and less fragrance. Olive and almond oils are also commonly used in homemade sugar scrubs, but they can have a strong fragrance of their own.
I love homemade sugar scrubs for a number of reasons:
- Easy and generally inexpensive to make.
- Easy to customize fragrance.
- Removes dry, dead skin.
- Lasts two to three months.
- Moisturizes skin long after use.

Hi Deshia, 1/2 cup, sorry about that, I will go fix it right now.
Deshia says
Is it 1/2 cup of grape seed oil or 1/2 TBSP?
Rebecca Hubbell says
Hi Pauline, you can do almond instead, it will just smell like almonds instead of hazelnuts. I wouldn’t use ground nuts personally.
Pauline says
Hi, I would love to try this recipe but can’t find the hazlenut extract, would almond extraxt work or be too strong? What about adding some ground nuts?
Thank you for the recipe.
