I tend to get a lot more reading done in the Fall and Winter months, there’s something cozy about burning a candle, snuggling up with the pup and a cup of hot cider while reading a good book. I read during the summer too, just not as much, usually I’ll find a book I really like and cruise through it.
I’m sure most of you, like myself, have a long list of books you want to read or need to finish; but in case you want to add a few more to that ever growing list, here are a few on mine:
The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
Why I want to read it: Well, first of all, I’m a bit of a sucker for Nicholas Sparks books. The story line also intrigues me, it seems to be a bit different than his traditional novels, but I think it will be a great book to get lost in.
The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom
Why I want to read it: He’s a great author and I’ve been wanting to read this since it was released. I think it has an interesting concept, and though it has mixed reviews I think I’ll enjoy it!
Boy21 by Matthew Quick
Why I want to read it: I loved Silver Linings Playbook by the same author and I think this story has a lot of potential. I love a good sports story, though it’s about much more than that.
Beautiful Darkness (Beautiful Creatures) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Why I want to read it: I’m actually about five chapters in from the past spring, I love Beautiful Creatures, but it was a bit hard for me to get into the next book in the series. I’m hoping to pick it back up again and push through to the good stuff, especially because there are another three books after this one.
Allegiant (Divergent) by Veronica Roth
Why I want to read it: I loved Divergent and Insurgent and I need to read the asap. Unfortunately, it isn’t being released until October so I guess it gives me some time to fit in a few other books before I get to wrap things up with Tris and Four.
The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies) by Pittacus Lore
Why I want to read this: I read I am Number Four and I loved it, I mean really loved it and I don’t normally go for sci-fi. I’ve had this book since it came out, and now there are two others behind it in the series. I have a lot of catching up to do!
The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith
Why I want to read it: I love watching shows along the same story line, but I’ve never really read a crime novel (other than In Cold Blood, one of my all time favorite books). I like the setting of this book and this I’ll enjoy the mystery.
Paper Towns by John Green
Why I want to read it: I loved Green’s The Fault in our Stars, and I have heard that this is really good as well. This is one of the books I am most excited to pick up and read!
Play It As It Lays: A Novel by Joan Didion
Why I want to read it: This was on a list of books that would change your life, so I’m going to see if it will change mine. It strikes me as kind of Marilyn Monroe-ey, so I’m sure i’ll love it!
Open Window: Shadows of Doubt (The Open Window Series) by Courtney Harvey
Why I want to read it: I loved the first book in the Open Window series, Open Window: Truth from the Shadows. Plus I loved supporting a local author, especially one with great talent.
I have teamed up with author Courtney Harvey to giveaway SIGNED copies of her first two novels in the Open Window Series. Open Window: Truth from the Shadows and Open Window: Shadows of Doubt.
