Some of you may remember a couple months ago when I gave my Master Bedroom a bit of a boost here. Well, everyone was giving me compliments about how nice it turned out, and all I could think was “if only they could see the other side”. It was empty other than the curtains at the time and after being in our house for almost three years, it was time to finish it off. The room has had the same color scheme since we moved in, though the vibe has changed a bit over time. I love the colors and eventually (after a couple season’s of Design Star) I settled on a Hollywood Regency as my inspiration.
Okay, this stand up mirror also used to be in the corner where the white table is now, but it has found a new home just as you enter the room under our floating shelves.
The silver pillars help to add a little glam to the walls.
I finally hung up our shadow box filled with little novelties from our wedding, our invitation, Matt’s boutonniere, and my earrings.
I love the chevron pillar I found at TJMaxx, it helps to tie in the chevron closet and the Hollywood regency vibe. I love the metallic accessories, and the black glam frame. They are the perfect touch to this corner of the room.
Other than the little wallet in our shadow box, I only have black and white photos in the bedroom. This one is one of my favorites other than our “Better Together” photo on the canvas over the bed, they were both from our engagement session.
You might also remember from my Master Bedroom Boost that I didn’t have matching night stands. I was okay with that for the time being and figured we’d just wait and upgrade when we bought the next house and a larger bed. Well, sometimes things just have a way of working out.
About a week after I shared that post I was walking through Target and noticed this cute little white night stand on the shelf for $50.00 on clearance. However, I needed two, well as it happens there was another one on the floor that I had walked right by, at that point it was fate. So I bought them and then spent a couple weeks arguing with myself if they were really worth $50.00 each. I decided they weren’t. So I took them back to the store and when I was asked why I was returning them I told him because I couldn’t justify the price tag. Well it just so happens that Matt and I used to work with him, he didn’t feel like taking them back out to the floor, and they had gone down to $20.88. He let me buy them back, I wasn’t going to beat that price!
Decor on my night stand.
The night stands did have these ugly little off white knobs on them though, so those had to be replaced…
…with these beauties found on Amazon. Much better wouldn’t you say?
I love the glass face and detail on the night stands. They work really well with the room and it’s nice have drawers next to the bed!
Decor on Matt’s night stand.
Curtains and canvas over the bed. Okay, now whose ready to see that chevron closet?
We used the same knobs for the closet doors as we did for the night stands.
And here she is, isn’t she beautiful. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it’s Martha Stewart’s Metallic Platinum Silver on Behr’s Oriental Eggplant. I’ll be posting the tutorial for this later this week! I personally love how it came out, it looks so much better than the plain white doors did, especially when the closet doors are what you see in the adjacent mirror.
Another angle. They really stand out, and I know it’s a bit bold, but it really works for the room and the Hollywood Regency style thanks to the glam metallic and bold pattern.
Some of you might also remember this photo popping up on my Facebook page a little while back. This was a definite retail steal, and in case you haven’t already figured out what this price tag belonged to… keep going…
This beautiful mirror was behind that price tag. It’s absolutely gorgeous and the photos do it absolutely no justice! I saw her peeking out from behind a bunch of canvases as the silver caught my eye. She has a couple scratches which are very minor and can easily be covered with paint when I get around to it. This mirror weighs around 40 lbs. and has beautifully detailed smaller mirrors around the edge. This was one of those pieces that I had an internal argument over, much like the night stands.
“I really don’t need the mirror”
“Oh, but I do”
“She’s more than I should spend on a mirror”
“But she was $600.00 and now she’s $70.00”
“Yeah, but Matt will kill you”
“Yeah, but Matt doesn’t have to know”
“Really? Matt ‘s going to have to carry the damn thing into the house”
“Who cares… I need her and Matt will live”
I think this conversation went on for a few more minutes while I sat in the aisle staring at it. Once I finally decided, I refused to leave her to find someone to help me carry it to the check out. I’m pretty sure I looked like a crazy lady guarding a mirror and shooting death glares at anyone who even thought about glancing at it. It was mine, MINE, MINE, MINE.
Whoa, where did that come from… maybe this mirror isn’t good for me.
Clearly, I’m a little possessive over this thing. I was so giddy when I got her home, Matt just shook his head, carried into the house, gave me a kiss and said “I’m glad you’re happy”, oh and I was!
Alright, one last look because she’s gorgeous!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our Master Bedroom. It’s such a relief to know that it’s done and almost just how I want it. The only thing I would change is that I want this Velvet Tufted Chaise Settee for under the mirror where the black trunk bench is.
