Inspired by the famous Game of Thrones dessert, Sansa’s Lemon Cake Cocktail is made with, ice cream, milk, lemon curd, rum, and cake and is the perfect blend of tart and sweet in a glass!
You guys didn’t think I’d let the premiere of Season 5 of Game of Thrones come and go without a Food and Fiction post, did you? Not a chance! One of the most popular posts here on the blog is my recipe for Sansa’s Lemon Cakes, but that recipe is also the most time intensive recipe I have ever done. So I wanted to do a new and quicker take on it that’s still just as good! A cocktail!
This cocktail is a blend of ice cream, milk, lemon curd, cake, and rum with the consistency of an ice cold frozen daiquiri. Which I think is the perfect metaphor for the changes in Sansa’s heart, something that was once so warm and sweet is now hardened by loss and war. We’re going to see a whole new side of her this season, and I for one, can’t wait! This cocktail can be blended up in just a few minutes and will be perfect for winding down on a Sunday night with your favorite Westerosians.
If you still want cake though and don’t have a few hours to spend in the kitchen, check out my girl Maggie’s version of Sansa’s Lemon Cakes over at The Love Nerds! They’re ready in just 40 minutes!
Anyways, who’s excited about this season? I’m more than ready to have some Jon Snow back in my life! It’s hard to believe I read A Dance with Dragons more than three years ago (and we’ll probably be waiting another three for Winds of Winter). Just like I talked about Droughtlander in my Fairy Pool Cocktail post, there needs to be a term for Game of Thrones withdrawal. Don’t you agree?
I’m really excited to see where this season takes us, I know they’re starting to deviate from the book more and more so there are bound to be some great surprises. Especially since they’re planning on killing off a main character who doesn’t die in the books. Any guesses as to who it will be? Oh, and have you guys seen this Late Night skit? Hilarious! I hope you guys all enjoy this season, it’s going to be a good one!
