These 5-Ingredient Snickerdoodle Sweet Rolls easy to make and out-of-this-world-good! They’re ooey and gooey and ready in about 30 minutes making them perfect for holiday brunch!
These 5-Ingredient Snickerdoodle Sweet Rolls were a challenge, literally! Pillsbury challenged me to make a recipe with just 5 ingredients, now I have a few recipes with minimal ingredients like my 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies and my 4-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse Cups, but I was feeling a little stumped on this one.
Then last week, it just hit me. How crazy would it be to roll some Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough up in a Pillsbury Crescents® Sheet? I could already hear my husband saying “you’re ridiculous”, but I knew I was on to something. So I went to work.
The first go round, I thought I was being so clever and only used 4 ingredients and I also rolled the dough the long way after it was prepped. Rolling it the long way resulted in 12 smaller rolls and when baked up they weren’t quite what I was looking for, they weren’t as fluffy and gooey as I wanted and they were missing something… CINNAMON!
The next round, I sprinkled cinnamon sugar on the prepped sugar cookie covered crescent sheet and then rolled it the short way. This resulted in 7 large rolls and I knew it was exactly what I was looking for! Then I sprinkled them with more cinnamon sugar before baking. The results were marvelous and no, I don’t think I’m being biased, I legit think these are one of the best recipe on this site now! So so good!
After some time in the oven, I pulled them out and they were pure sweet, gooey, cinnamon sugar perfection! Then of course to top it all off I added some cinnamon sugar icing, because they are sweet rolls after all! Seriously, why did I send these with my husband to work this morning? I should have kept them all to myself!
Sweet Rolls from scratch, take a lot of time and traditionally my mom usually only makes them for Christmas, but since Pillsbury makes these so simple to make, I might just start making them every morning! Okay, maybe not every morning, but a lot of mornings! And yes, I’m already thinking about all the different possibilities I can make using the Pillsbury cookie dough varieties! Do you have a favorite holiday breakfast tradition with your family?
I know many of you are super prepared and have already done all your holiday grocery shopping for tomorrow, but I strongly encourage you to run back out and grab the ingredients you need to make this. Three of them are probably in your pantry so that makes it even easier! And for those of you like me, who will probably make their last trip to Walmart around 7pm, don’t forget to add this recipe to your list! These 5-Ingredient Snickerdoodle Sweet Rolls WILL be the dish everyone raves about tomorrow morning at Thanksgiving breakfast and did I mention it only takes about 30 minutes to make? Yeah, really, make these sweet rolls and thank me later!
5-Ingredient Snickerdoodle Sweet Rolls
Ingredients
Rolls:
- 16 Pillsbury Ready to Bake!® Sugar Cookies from 1 package, not 16 packages
- 1 - 8 oz. package Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheet
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Icing:
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 tbsp water p.s. we're not counting this as an ingredient!
Instructions
Rolls:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9 inch pie plate or 9 inch cake pan with cooking spray.
- Place sugar cookies on a clean surface, I used a large baking sheet. Use a rolling pin to roll out the cookie dough, use a spatula to scrape off the pan and set the cookie dough to the edge of the pan.
- Roll out crescent sheet and run the rolling pin over it a couple time to smooth it out.
- Use your fingers to gently spread and press the cookie dough into the crescent sheet in and even layer, leaving about an inch on all sides.
- Start with one of the short ends and roll the sheet of dough up, pressing to seal the edge and the ends together.
- Use a large sharp knife to saw back and forth over the dough to cut 7 equally sized rolls, about 1 inch thick each.
- Arrange rolls in prepared baking dish, one in the middle and the rest around the edges, they don't need to touch.
- Combine 2 tbsp sugar and 1/4 tsp of sugar in a small bowl and sprinkle the rolls with it.
- Bake for 25-27 minutes.
- Once rolls are done, remove them from the oven and place the baking dish on a cooling rack or trivet.
- Prepare icing by whisking together confectioners' sugar, cinnamon, and water until smooth. Pour over warm rolls and serve.
