Shrimp Cocktail is the appetizer everyone looks forward to! This Homemade Cocktail Sauce packs a punch of flavor using ingredients like ketchup, horseradish, fresh lemon juice, and tabasco sauce to take your Shrimp Cocktail to a restaurant-worthy level!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish
  • tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 dashes Tabasco or hot sauce optional
  • 1 lb frozen jumbo or large shrimp thawed

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a small bowl and whisk to combine.
  • Serve with thawed shrimp over ice or in individual serving glasses or bowls.

Notes

  • 1lb of shrimp serves 4 people. Generally 4 ounces per person. The cocktail sauce was developed to go with 1lb of shrimp.
  • Using frozen shrimp is the easiest way to prepare a shrimp cocktail. Let the shrimp thaw in the bag in the refrigerator overnight or place them in a colander and run under cool water until thawed.
  • Leftovers that have been dipped into should be discarded after serving.
  • You can make the sauce up to 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
