Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine. Can be served immediately, but tastes best after refrigerated for 2 hours.
Notes
Chop finely or leave bigger pieces depending on how chunky you want the sauce to be.
If you don't have capers, you can substitute them with additional pickles.
I sometimes like to add some lemon zest and Old Bay Seasoning to my tartar sauce for even more flavor.
Usually, there is no extra salt needed but it gets better with some freshly ground pepper.
This sauce will get better when it had a chance to sit a bit and let all flavors infuse the mayonnaise and yogurt. You can make it in advance and it will stay good for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
Variations:
If you don’t have capers you can easily substitute them for more pickles or relish of your choosing.
For a tangy, sharp flavor with a little bit of spice, you can try adding in some dijon mustard, vinegar, or Cocktail Sauce!
Swap out the pickles for dill relish, sweet relish, or even pickle relish! You’ll still get a pickle flavor just in a different variation. Sweet pickles like my Bread & Butter Pickles are also a delicious option.
If you want the added onion flavor without the crunch, mix in a little bit of onion powder!
