This Apple Cider Mojito recipe is my new favorite cocktail for fall! Spiced, vibrant, and slightly sweet, it has all the flavors of a classic rum mojito plus a hefty pour of apple cider.

Ingredients

  • 8 fresh mint leaves plus more for garnish
  • 2 lime wedges plus more for garnish
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • ounces white rum
  • 3 ounces apple cider
  • 2 ounces club soda

Instructions

  • Add the mint and lime wedges to a tall glass and muddle.1
  • Add in the lime juice, simple syrup, rum, and cider.
  • Then fill the glass almost all the way full with crushed ice and use a bar spoon to mix.
  • Top off the glass with club soda and serve with a straw and mint, apple, lime, and cinnamon garnishes.2

Notes

  1. Muddling means mashing up ingredients (usually fresh herbs, berries, or fruit) to release their flavor. Usually, it’s the first step in making a cocktail because the items are muddled in the bottom of the glass. You can use a muddling tool, but the handle of a wooden spoon works fine, too.
  2. Slap the mint you use for garnish between your hands to release some of the oils that you'll smell when you sip the drink, adding to the experience.
Substitutions & Variations:
  • Apple juice – In a pinch, this can be subbed for apple cider (but it’s not as good)!
  • Dark rum – You can sub dark rum for white rum. It’ll deviate from the classic mojito flavor, but sweet, spiced rum pairs well with cider.
