Rebecca’s Recipe Review

Taste: A bit like American Alfredo, but not as heavy and more garlic-forward.

Texture: Creamy butter sauce with al dente pasta.

Ease: 3/10

Pros: Easy to prepare with simple ingredients and great flavor.

Cons: Needs to be babysat to prevent burning and reheats poorly.

Would I Make This Again? Yes, my 7 year old asks for it on repeat.

One Pot Viral Pasta Ditalini Ingredients

One of the most appealing things about this recipe is the minimal, easy ingredients! Making it an approachable viral recipe to whip up and try. To make a batch of Ditalini pasta, you’ll need:

  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Paste
  • Ditalini Pasta
  • Chicken Broth
  • Salt
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Heavy Cream
  • Salted Butter
  • Black Pepper
  • Fresh Parsley

It’s important to note that the recipe calls for uncooked, dry ditalini pasta, as it will cook in the chicken broth. If you can’t get your hands on ditalini pasta, you can use another small pasta such as mini bow ties or pastina.

How To Make Creamy Garlic Butter Ditalini Pasta

  1. Cook garlic paste with olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the garlic becomes fragrant and begins to brown.
  2. Stir ditalini pasta into the skillet.
  3. Pour chicken broth into the skillet and sprinkle with salt. Stir the pasta mixture constantly to prevent the pasta from burning to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add parmesan cheese, heavy cream, and salted butter to the skillet with the pasta once the broth has almost all been absorbed. Stir the pasta until the cheese has all melted.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Then garnish the pasta with minced fresh parsley and enjoy immediately!

Rebecca’s Creamy Ditalini Pasta Tips

  • As soon as the pasta hits the skillet, you’ll need to watch it closely for the remainder of the cook time. It will be necessary to stir the pasta frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.
  • The recipe card calls for 2 cups of chicken broth, but the trick is to add just enough broth to cover the pasta. It could be more or less broth depending on the size of your skillet.
  • I highly recommend using freshly grated Parmesan cheese to achieve the best texture in this pasta recipe!
  • I do not recommend reheating this pasta since the sauce does separate, altering the flavor and texture of the dish.

Viral Ditalini Pasta Variations

  • For a more filling pasta recipe, add in your favorite protein! Shredded chicken, turkey, or even shrimp would all be a delicious choice.
  • Sneak some veggies in! Try incorporating broccoli, fresh spinach, cauliflower, carrots, or peas to get more nutrition out of this dish.
  • Experiment with this Ditalini Pasta by adding in your favorite seasonings or spices to taste.
  • For a kick of heat, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or make it even hotter by stirring in a tablespoon of chili crisp.
