Ingredients For Pumpkin Spice Sauce
- Pumpkin Puree – Found in the baking aisle, likely near the pie fillings. Usually, pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie filling are near each other. Just be sure to grab pumpkin puree, NOT filling, as the two are different!
- Light Brown Sugar – For an added depth of warm, cozy flavor!
- Vanilla Bean Paste – Vanilla paste has a more intense flavor than extract, giving the sauce a boost of richness. However, if vanilla extract is all you have on hand, you can use an equal amount in place of the paste.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice – Adds the classic pumpkin spice flavor to the sauce. If you don’t have any on hand, it’s easy to make Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice right at home in just 2 minutes using pantry staple spices!
- Salt – Balances out the overall sweetness of the pumpkin sauce.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk – Creates a smooth, stable foundation for the sauce, adding a deliciously sweet flavor to this pumpkin sauce.

How To Make Pumpkin Sauce for Coffee
- Combine pumpkin puree, light brown sugar, vanilla bean paste, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a small saucepan.
- Heat the saucepan over medium-high heat until the mixture darkens and thickens.
- Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and continue cooking.
- Remove the pumpkin sauce from the heat and let it cool before using it in your favorite fall drinks.

Rebecca’s Pumpkin Syrup Tips
- For a dairy-free pumpkin sauce, you can use sweetened condensed coconut milk or sweetened condensed oat milk in place of sweetened condensed milk.
- Some recipes out there don’t require cooking the sauce on the stovetop; however, I find it necessary to do so. Heating the sauce thoroughly melds the ingredients, achieving a much better consistency and avoiding that raw-pumpkin-puree flavor.
- If the sauce is accidentally cooked for too long, it will become extremely thick. This can be fixed by adding a bit of water to thin it out.
- Be sure to stir the sauce while it’s cooking to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.

How To Enjoy Homemade Pumpkin Sauce
- In coffee or espresso drinks, hot or iced! This pumpkin sauce is the perfect ingredient to make pumpkin spice lattes right at home!
- Use this pumpkin sauce to make homemade pumpkin cold foam!
- Drizzle this pumpkin sauce over vanilla ice cream for a sweet treat!
- Add the flavor of fall to breakfast by serving up a stack of Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes or Belgian Waffles and then using this pumpkin sauce on top!
- Swirl this pumpkin sauce in pancake batter for pumpkin-flavored pancakes!
How To Store Starbucks Pumpkin Sauce Copycat Recipe
Allow the pumpkin sauce to cool completely and then transfer it into a jar with a lid, such as a mason jar. A kitchen squeeze bottle would also work great for storing and dispensing.
Store the pumpkin sauce in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Though if you’re a big pumpkin spice fan, this sauce won’t even last that long!
