Brown sugar may seem to be an odd fit for lemonade, but it’s actually quite genius! You still get the bright, refreshing lemon flavor but instead of regular sugar, it’s met with rich brown sugar to create a delicious depth of flavor to cool down with.

Rebecca’s Recipe Review

Taste: A cohesive blend of refreshing lemon and caramel-like brown sugar flavor.

Texture: Smooth unless you prefer pulp!

Ease: 2/10

Pros: An easy-to-make recipe that’s a fun break from classic Lemonade while still enjoying lemony goodness for Summer.

Cons: It’s best to make a batch of the brown sugar simple syrup ahead of time so that it has time to cool down.

How To Make Brown Sugar Lemonade

  1. Prepare the brown sugar simple syrup.
  2. Squeeze the juice out of the lemons into a liquid measuring cup.
  3. Combine the lemon juice, brown sugar simple syrup, and cold water together in a large pitcher.
  4. Slice up a lemon.
  5. Serve the Homemade Brown Sugar Lemonade in tall glasses with ice and garnish with a fresh lemon slice.

Rebecca’s Lemonade Tips

  • This recipe calls for two cups of freshly squeezed lemon juice therefore you’ll need to grab about 10 to 12 large lemons.
  • Get the most juice from your lemons by first rolling each lemon on the counter firmly using the palm of your hand. This will cause the inner membranes to break down allowing the lemons to release more juice. Afterwards, microwave each rolled lemon for about 10 seconds. Then slice the lemons and use a citrus press to squeeze the juice out of the lemons.
  • If you prefer a sweeter lemonade, simply add an additional 1/3 cup of bot brown sugar and water to the simple syrup mixture.
  • You can decide if you want the lemonade to have pulp or not! For pulp free lemonade, strain the lemon juice through a fine mesh sieve. If you decide you want lemonade with pulp, just be sure to pick out any lemon seeds if you see them!
