Rebecca’s Recipe Tips

  • Cereal – I prefer using Rice Chex cereal when making muddy buddy recipes. However, Corn Chex or even Chocolate Chex could be used!
  • Melting Process – For this recipe we want the melted chocolate to be perfectly smooth! This way it coats the cereal thoroughly. For this step you can either use the microwave or double boiler, just be sure the chocolate doesn’t burn in the process!
  • Minty Mix Ins – These Mint Chocolate Muddy Buddies are made with junior mints, Andes mints, and Mini York Peppermint Patties. But feel free to add any of your favorite minty candies to this mix! Other ideas include mini mint chocolate chips, mint M&Ms, or chopped dark chocolate & mint swirl Dove chocolates!
  • Dress It Up For The Holidays – Add some festive red and green sprinkles to these Mint Chocolate Muddy Buddies for Christmas! Or mini green mint chocolate chips or green mint M&Ms for St Patrick’s Day!
  • Package It For Gifting – Since this recipe yields 14 1/2 cup servings there’s plenty to share! To gift it place portions into cellophane bags and tie them off with your choice of ribbon!
  • Less Minty Flavor – If you don’t love strong mint flavor, then you can replace the Andes mints with a 10oz. bag of milk or dark chocolate wafers. The mixture will still be plenty minty with the Junior Mints, Mini York Peppermint Patties, and Andes mints.

Make Mint Buddy Muddies Ahead Of Time

Get ahead of that party you’re hosting by making this sweet snack mix ahead of time!

I often make this mixture a day or two before a party or gathering. Just make sure to keep it stored in an airtight container or bag. That way it doesn’t go stale before you and your guests can enjoy it!
