Honey Simple Syrup
Mix up a batch of this easy Honey Simple Syrup to naturally sweeten your cocktails, mocktails, and homemade drinks to perfection without the use of refined sugars! Made in under 10 minutes using only water and honey!
This Honey Syrup Is Perfect For Adding To Drinks!
Typically, homemade simple syrups are a liquid sweetener made by simmering water with granulated sugar, using the addition of fruits, herbs, or spices to create a specific flavored simple syrup. However, this Honey Simple Syrup skips the use of refined sugars and instead is naturally sweetened with honey.
This Honey Simple Syrup can be used the same as any simple syrup, though! Whether your drink of choice is homemade lemonades or iced teas, a cocktail to take the edge off, or a simple, fun mocktail to enjoy with friends, this honey simple syrup has a wonderfully sweet, earthy flavor that will upgrade any and all of your favorite drinks!

Honey Simple Syrup Ingredients
To make homemade honey simple syrup, you need just two ingredients: water and honey! Keep in mind that when selecting your honey for this recipe, that the kind you use will impact the overall flavor.
I prefer using a wildflower or fruity blossom honey, such as orange or blackberry. Check your local grocery stores, farmers markets, or even Amazon to find your preferred honey for this simple syrup recipe.
How To Make Simple Syrup With Honey
- Stovetop:
1. Combine honey with water in a small saucepan.
2. Simmer the honey and water over medium heat until the honey has dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer.
3. Remove the simple syrup from the heat and allow it cool completely before using in your desired recipe. - Microwave:
1. Combine honey and water in a microwave-safe bowl.
2. Transfer the bowl into the microwave and heat for 2 minutes. Stopping at 1 minute to stir the honey and water together.
3. Allow the simple syrup to cool completely to room temperature once the honey has fully dissolved into the water.
Rebecca’s Tips
- Simple Syrup can be made in a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio. This recipe starts with equal parts honey and water, but you can double the honey for a thicker, more intensely flavored syrup. My Honey Lemonade uses a 1:1 ratio for sweetener.
- Feel free to use different types of honey, like clover or other fruit varieties, to mix up the flavor profile.
- Homemade syrups are a great way to dress up waffles and pancakes for breakfast, too!
How To Store Honey Simple Syrup
Once the homemade honey simple syrup has cooled to room temperature, transfer it into an airtight container or jar. I prefer storing my homemade simple syrups in a mason jar or an oil bottle with a spout for easy pouring.
Store Honey Simple Syrup in the fridge to use within 2 to 3 weeks.

The recipe is great. Where can I get a honey jar with the great lid/spout?
Not sure which you are looking for, the spouted bottle shown in photos for the final product, or a honey jar for the honey itself? The bottles are linked in the post, and Amazon has a wide selection of honey jars that offer different things.
