While aboard the Sky Princess in the Mediterranean this fall, I completely fell in love with this Pink Gin Spritz cocktail! It’s light and fruity with a hint of citrus and sweet strawberries.

What Is Pink Gin?

It was created by the Royal Navy in the mid-1800s that was believed to have been used as a cure for seasickness. Ultimately, it’s Plymouth Gin with a dash of Angostura Bitters, but you find variations from popular and craft Gin distillers.

How To Make A Spritz

This is a very simple cocktail to make, and it serves 4, which makes it perfect for girl’s nights or a summer evening on the desk or by the pool.

Step 1: Begin by adding sliced strawberries and limes to an ice-filled carafe.

You’ll want to squeeze the lime juice into the carafe and drop the squeezed wedges in after.

Step 2: Now it’s time to start adding the good stuff, beginning with the pink gin.

On Board, this recipe is made with The Bitter Truth brand. However, I wasn’t able to get it here in the States, so I settled for Gordon’s, which is a little fruitier. But that’s okay because there’s nothing wrong with a little extra fruit in a poolside drink. amirite?

Also, don’t confuse pink gin with sloe gin; they have very different flavor profiles.

Step 3: Then it’s time to add the bubbles! Start with the Prosecco and then top it off with lemon-lime soda. Gently stir and serve in glasses with ice.

Don’t substitute for soda water or club soda because the lemon-lime soda adds a lot of the sweetness that really makes this drink great.

Can I Make It In Advance?

No, the majority of the drink is made up of prosecco and soda, and they will lose their carbonation over time. So it’s best to serve and consume right away.

If you want to get a small head start on this recipe, you could prep your fruit and add it to the carafe with the gin and add the ice and bubbles when you’re ready to serve.

Unlike Sangria, there’s no need to wait to enjoy a glass of this fruity cocktail! You can pour yourself a glass of this pink gin spritz and start sipping right away!

And if you like it extra sweet, here’s a little pro tip: Add an ounce of simple syrup or grenadine!
