Rebecca’s Recipe Review
Taste: Lightly sweet vanilla cream with a hint of saltiness.
Texture: Thick and creamy with a slightly greasy mouthfeel from the heavy cream.
Ease: 1/10
Pros: Super easy to make! Cheaper than getting it at the drive-thru and less processed than the canned stuff!
Cons: Causes a strong desire to eat it with a spoon before it makes it to the coffee.
Would I Make This Again? Yes, I’m not sure iced coffee is complete without it!
Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam Ingredients
- Heavy Cream – This added fat content creates a super thick and creamy cold foam that has structure.
- Whole Milk – I prefer making cold foam with whole milk for the higher fat content, whereas classic cold foam uses nonfat milk. However, Starbucks uses 2% milk, so you could also use that. For a dairy alternative, I found that soy milk works the best.
- Vanilla Simple Syrup – Or simple syrup of choice! Homemade simple syrups are great, but you can also use storebought syrups as well.
- Salt – Only a pinch!
How To Make Starbucks Cold Foam Recipe At Home
- Add heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla simple syrup, and salt to a Mason jar with a lid. Cover tightly and shake until the mixture becomes thick but pourable. If you’re using a handheld milk frother or hand mixer, just whip the ingredients together until they become thick but pourable.
- Pour the Homemade Cold Foam over the top of your favorite cafe beverages, such as cold brew coffee, and enjoy!
Homemade Cold Foam Methods
- Jar With Lid – Pour the ingredients into a tightly sealed jar such as a mason jar and shake vigorously until the mixture creates a thick, pourable foam.
- Shaker Bottle – Similar to the jar method, using a shaker bottle allows you to shake the cold foam until it reaches your desired consistency.
- French Press – This method takes a bit of muscle but still gets the job done! Add all of the cold foam ingredients into the French Press and then pump it up until it becomes foamy.
- Blender – Combine the ingredients to a blender and blend until the cold foam becomes a frothy, thick, pourable consistency.
- Beater – Using a handheld mixer and a bowl to beat the ingredients will also create cold foam.
Cold Foam Flavor Variations
This Homemade Cold Foam recipe makes it simple to switch up the flavors easily! All you have to do is swap out the vanilla simple syrup with another flavored syrup, making delicious possibilities endless.
- Classic – Keep the flavors classic by swapping the vanilla syrup out for Brown Sugar Simple Syrup to enjoy over a Shaken Brown Sugar Oatmilk Espresso!
- Fruity Fun – My Blueberry Simple Syrup or Strawberry Simple Syrup would make for a splash of flavor for a fruity cold foam!
- Seasonal Flavors – Use pumpkin syrup to make a Pumpkin Cold Foam that can be poured over a Pumpkin Spice Latte or peppermint syrup for Peppermint Cold Foam on your latte for a taste of Christmas!
- Unrefined – Use Honey Simple Syrup for an option that uses unrefined sweetener.
How To Store Homemade Cold Foam
Homemade Cold Foam has the best flavor and texture when it’s freshly made! However, if you happen to have leftover cold foam, you can transfer it into a jar with an airtight lid, such as a Mason jar.
The Homemade Cold Foam can then be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. To use up the stored cold foam, you’ll need to re-froth it with a milk frother or just vigorously shake it in the jar until it becomes foamy again.
