This recipe is a copycat version of the amazing Sauce Princess Cruises serves aboard their fleet of ships and I’m excited to be partnering with them on this post to share the recipe with all of you!
I’ve been all over the world in the past few years, but it wasn’t until about two months ago that I went on my very first cruise.
Thanks to Princess Cruises, I was able to walk the white sand beaches of the Caribbean, browse colorful locally-owned shops, and even lounge in a real-life tiki bar off the coast of Mexico.
Not only does this recipe mimic the one served on Princess Cruises, but it’s also a scrumptious take on the classic comfort food that’s sure to become a favorite meal in your home.

Best Alfredo Sauce Ingredients
Traditionally, this white sauce recipe is made with just butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese. But I’ve added some extra ingredients to increase its richness and flavor.
Unsalted Butter
Minced Garlic
Egg Yolks
Heavy Cream
Grated Parmesan Cheese
Ground Black Pepper
Salt
The addition of egg yolks makes this Alfredo sauce a borderline carbonara, but because it has heavy cream in it, it isn’t a true carbonara sauce either. Carbonara sauce at its base is just eggs and cheese.
I made this for the family super bowl party and everyone just loved it. My granddaughter wants me to teach her to make it. Excellent recipe and thank you for passing it on.

How To Make The Best Alfredo Sauce
1. Melt butter over medium heat.
2. Whisk egg yolks and heavy cream together in a separate bowl.
3. Add the egg mixture slowly to the pan, whisking continuously.
4. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to thicken.
5. Add cooked pasta to the pan and toss to coat. Garnish with Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.

I’ve been in planes, trains, and automobiles, but to be honest, before boarding the Crown Princess cruise ship, I was a little apprehensive about taking a vacation at sea.
But one of my biggest concerns (because I think with my stomach) centered around what there’d be to eat on the ship. After all, we’d be “stuck” with the choices that were given to us – right?
But I’m happy to report that the huge assortment of quality, fresh food was one of the most pleasant surprises I discovered on my first cruise.

On the Crown Princess, there are restaurants and dining options galore for vacationers of all ages.
The main kitchen is constantly cooking to ensure everything stays fresh, baking bread around the clock, serving up sauces made from scratch.
Even offering steaks that are aged and hand-cut onboard (just to name a few). And you must know about their homemade ice cream, which was made in batches every single day!

Needless to say, Princess Cruises have an amazing array of tasty foods from casual burgers to decadent multi-course meals for any mood or palate.
But out of all the drool-worthy choices available for hungry vacationers (including hardcore foodies like me), one of the best dishes served on the cruise line is their famous Alfredo sauce.

I can tell you from experience, there’s a reason that this homemade sauce is renown. Rich, creamy, and made from scratch, the pasta Alfredo was one of the best meals I enjoyed during my week on the Crown Princess.
And everyone loves alfredo, right? And I promise the Olive Garden Fettucine Alfredo doesn’t even compare to this recipe!
This dish proves that simplicity is oftentimes best, this sauce should be made with just a handful of quality ingredients. You won’t find any cream cheese in this recipe!
How To Serve Alfredo Sauce
For Chicken Alfredo, add some grilled or pan-seared chicken breast.
Sautéed broccoli makes this dish nice and hearty!
You could also add Italian seasonings for a flavor boost!
And if you’re really feeling crazy, add a handful of bacon crumbles!

My whole family loved it. It’s worth the time to make your own and not use shelf ready in store crap
Totally agree with you there, so glad everyone enjoyed it!
Tried making the sauce twice and it kept curdling. Did everything I could for it not to curdle yet it still did. Turned out to be a waste of time, food, and patience.
Great recipe !
I added 1/4 cup more Parmesan cheese and 1/4 c cream cheese to thicken.
Perfect with baked chicken breast over spaghetti noodles
