Cookie butter is one of my specialties! I love that deep, spiced cookie flavor in everything, from eating it in Cookie Butter No Bake Cookies to drinking it in this Cookie Butter Latte!

Since my love for cookie butter runs deep, I’m especially careful to create recipes where it does nothing but SHINE! And that’s exactly what it does in this Cookie Butter Frosting Recipe.

I started with my 5-star American Buttercream recipe and then perfected just the right ratio of ingredients to allow the cookie butter flavor to stand out! The result is the best cookie butter frosting recipe to finish off all of your cakes, cookies, and cupcakes!

  • Unsalted butter
  • Creamy cookie butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Powdered sugar
  • Heavy cream

These five ingredients cream up together perfectly to deliver a mouthwatering frosting! I prefer making this recipe with Trader Joe’s Speculoos creamy cookie butter, but it can also be made with Biscoff Cookie Butter.

If you don’t live near a Trader Joe’s then you can easily find Biscoff Cookie Butter at most major grocers. It can also be found at Walmart or Target!

While I love the rich, creamy texture that using Heavy Cream adds to this frosting recipe it can be swapped out for whole milk if you already have that on hand.

Some of the cookie butter can be replaced with peanut butter for a peanut buttery twist on this frosting. For a chocolate cookie butter variation, you can add a ¼ cup of cocoa powder to this frosting recipe.

Step 1: Cream the unsalted butter, cookie butter, and vanilla extract together in a large bowl or stand mixer that’s fitted with a paddle attachment.

Step 2: Add the confectioners’ sugar in a cup to a time alternating with heavy cream.

Step 3: Whip the Biscoff frosting on medium-high speed until it becomes light and fluffy.

Step 4: Frost your cakes, cupcakes, or cookies! OR just lick it straight off from the beaters 😉

How much frosting does this recipe make?

This recipe yields enough frosting to cover a 2-layer 8-inch cake or 18 to 20 regular sized cupcakes.

How To Use Biscoff Frosting

Transfer any leftover Biscoff Buttercream into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Since this frosting crusts up it will need to be re-whipped once it has been stored in the fridge before using.

You can use cookie butter to make this delicious frosting recipe and lots of other yummy recipes! I love using it to make Homemade Cookie Butter Balls, Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, and even this Cookie Butter Latte!

How do I thicken or thin the frosting out?

To thicken the frosting add a little bit of powdered sugar and to thin it out add a splash of heavy cream.

Yes, cookie butter and Biscoff spread are essentially the same thing.
