Rum Punch

Guys, summer is finally just around the corner, and I have two words for you: Rum Punch.

Yep, cookout season is so close I can almost smell the burgers. And what better way to enjoy a balmy evening with friends and family than with a fruity cocktail in hand?

Truth be told, I already had a little taste of summer a few weeks ago.

That’s because I was sailing on a cruise!

Princess Cruises hosted me on a Caribbean Cruise so that I could experience The MedallionClass Experience first-hand!

I spent the week exploring colorful towns, walking on white sand beaches, and swimming in turquoise waters.

Basically, it was paradise.

You’d think I would have had my fill of warm weather for a while, but nope!

Now I’m ready for that summertime sun more than ever!

Although, nothing compares to the palm trees and crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. (Seriously, if you haven’t been yet, add it to your bucket list!)

But back to the Rum Punch…

This Rum Punch Was Inspired By My Time In Grand Turk!

During my vacation-at-sea, we docked in Grand Turk and took a boat over to Gibb’s Cay, a small uninhabited island in Turks and Caicos.

There, we encountered wild stingrays (I even got a kiss!), and sipped Rum Punch!

Back on Grand Turk, we had a delicious lunch at a beachside restaurant called Jack’s Shack.

It’s famous for the friendly island dogs that frequent it, and well, you probably know how much I love dogs!

For me, that day was a definitely highlight of my Princess Cruise. In fact, it may have been one of my favorite Caribbean excursions so far.

So when the weather starts heating up here in Maine, nothing gives me island vibes like savoring some Rum Punch!

This particular recipe is inspired by the yummy concoction we drank on that day in Grand Turk.

It brings back all those fun memories, like a vacation in a glass!

What Is Rum Punch?

It’s a cocktail with Caribbean origins made with fruit juices, rum, grenadine, sliced citrus, and sometimes topped with soda.

What Is Rum Punch Made Of?

This tasty drink recipe is made with orange, pineapple, lemon, and lime juices, grenadine, and a dose of ginger ale.

Then, of course, are the signature ingredients – it’s spiked with three kinds of rum: dark, white, and coconut.

Yep, this stuff is boo-zy!

Needless to say, it’s definitely an adult beverage, so make sure the kiddos don’t get into the punch bowl.

Can Rum Punch Go Bad?

Yes, it can. You can safely make this punch recipe up to 48 hours in advance, just don’t add fruit slices, soda, or ice until ready to serve. Store the punch in an air-tight container.

When it comes to grown-up gatherings, especially when they’re outdoors, this Bacardi Rum Punch is definitely the way to go.

You can spend your time mingling instead of mixing cocktails, plus guests can serve themselves.

In fact, I like setting up a punch bar complete with fancy garnishes.

Put out pretty glassware (plastic is probably best), decorative straws, an ice bucket, and bowls of citrus wedges and cherries.

You can even add some cute straws for some extra festive flair!

If you want to turn your backyard into an island oasis, a boozy batch of tropical Rum Punch is a must — tiki bar and string lights optional.

And with three kinds of rum in this scary-good cocktail, it’ll definitely get the party started on a muggy evening.

This summer, evoke island vibes with this Caribbean-inspired Bacardi Rum Punch Recipe.

You may be missing the turquoise water, but at least it’ll taste like you’re on a Princess Cruise!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups orange juice chilled
  • 2 1/2 cups pineapple juice chilled
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice chilled
  • 1/2 cup lime juice chilled
  • 1/2 cup grenadine chilled
  • 1 cup dark rum chilled
  • 1 cup coconut rum chilled
  • 1 cup white rum chilled
  • 2 cups ginger ale chilled
  • ice
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 lime sliced
  • maraschino cherries for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the fruit juices, grenadine, and rum and stir to combine.
  • For best flavor, chill for 2 hours before serving.
  • Add the fruit slices, ginger ale, and ice just before serving.

Notes

  • You can either add the soda right to the punch bowl or pitcher or leave it on the side for guests to add themselves. This means fresh fizz.
  • If you don't like fizz in your punch, the soda may be omitted.
  • Use chilled liquids so that the ice doesn't melt as fast and water down the drink.
