Pumpkin Spice Latte: The Official Start To Fall

By now, we all know that not every Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte is created equally. Some are too sweet, some too bitter, while others have an overpowering artificial pumpkin flavor.

With ingredients such as pumpkin puree, 100% pure maple syrup, and homemade pumpkin pie spice, each sip will deliver authentic fall flavor! This Homemade Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte will be love at first sip, and you’ll be hooked ALL season long!

Rebecca’s Recipe Review

Taste: Milky sweet pumpkin flavor with espresso notes and hints of spice.

Texture: Frothy cold foam sits atop an ice-filled creamy coffee beverage.

Ease: 2/10

Pros: Tastes better than Starbucks and uses cooked pumpkin sauce instead of raw puree.

Cons: A little extra prep time is needed to make the sauce, but a batch will last you a week+!

Would I Make This Again? Yes. I’m normally not a big PSL fan, but this version is delicious!

Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients

To make an iced pumpkin spice latte at home, you need a batch of this pumpkin pie sauce that’s made with just 6 ingredients. Trust me, the extra effort it takes for this homemade pumpkin sauce will elevate the flavor of your pumpkin lattes.

From there, the latte ingredients include maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice (homemade or storebought), a pinch of salt, and a double shot of espresso.

Once the pumpkin latte mixture has been made, it gets poured into a cup with ice and then topped with your choice of milk.

Rebecca’s Pumpkin Latte Tips

  • Make a batch of pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin pie sauce ahead of time! This will let you have the ingredients you need to make a latte anytime you’re looking for the taste of fall!
  • Be sure to brew the hot espresso over the pumpkin spice sauce, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. The heat from the espresso will help to incorporate all of the ingredients.
  • It’s best to use a hand frother when mixing the espresso with pumpkin mixture. This will ensure the dry ingredients get thoroughly combined.
  • If you prefer a more prominent pumpkin flavor in your latte feel free to add more pumpkin spice sauce.

Espresso Without An Espresso Machine

If you love espresso-based drinks like me, an espresso machine (<<< I have this one and it’s over 5 years old and running strong!) is the best way to brew a latte, with a Nespresso machine coming in second. However, if you have neither or are just new to the espresso scene, here are more ways to make an espresso-based drink without a fancy kitchen gadget:

  • Instant Espresso – Instant Espresso has been making a wave over on the coffee side of TikTok, with people claiming that this is the only way they make their espresso-based drinks! Nescafé Gold in blonde roast or intense seems to be the most popular choice with the close runner-up being Café Bustelo.
  • French Press, Aeropress, Or Moka Pot – In my opinion, French pressed coffee is smooth and flavorful, making it a really great substitution! But feel free to use an Aeropress or Moka Pot if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Brewed Coffee – Brew a strong cup of hot coffee to use in place of the espresso.
  • Espresso Concentrate – Some stores carry brewed espresso concentrate as an easy way to make homemade espresso drinks at home!
