DIY Coffee Creamer Ingredients

  • Half and Half
  • Sweetened condensed milk or syrup
  • Simple syrup optional
  • Flavor extract

Kicking off this homemade creamer is an essential ingredient, heavy cream. It gives the creamer a deliciously rich flavor and creamy texture, a simple storebought ingredient that’s the building block of this recipe.

However, I like to give my readers options, so if you prefer, half and half can be swapped for heavy cream or whole milk.

Sweetened condensed milk is then used to sweeten and thicken this coffee creamer. For a simple variation, you can substitute this for caramel or chocolate sauces/syrups.

Rebecca’s Tips

  • If needed, you can make half and half with equal parts whole milk and heavy cream.
  • This homemade creamer is already nice and creamy; however, if you prefer an even thicker creamer, you can stir in a little bit of cornstarch.
  • For a slightly healthier coffee creamer, you can choose sugar-free simple syrups or even omit it altogether. You can also replace the sweetened condensed milk with sugar-free caramel or chocolate sauces/syrups. If desired, you can also substitute the heavy cream for a milk of your choice. Keep in mind that these substitutions to make the creamer healthier will impact the texture and taste.

Homemade Coffee Creamer Flavor Ideas

From there, the creamer recipe can be tailored to your liking, making it the ultimate coffee creamer recipe! For the best taste, I do recommend using a high-quality simple syrup such as the Torani brand or homemade.

Here are some ideas for simple syrups to use in this creamer recipe:

If you browse the simple syrup aisle at the grocery store, Walmart, Target, or even online I’m sure you’ll find a great choice to make this coffee creamer exactly the way you’d like!

The next customizable ingredient that’s optional as well is flavor extract. We love using vanilla, maple, or coconut in our creamer.

However, like simple syrups, there’s a long list of choices!
