Chocolate cookie crumbs and cream cheese in a stand mixer bowl.

1. In a food processor, pulse the cookies until fine crumbs form. Reserve 2 tablespoons of filling mixture to sprinkle on top of the finished truffles.

2. In a medium-sized bowl or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix together the cookie crumbs, cream cheese, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

3. Use a medium cookie scoop to roll the mixture into 1-inch sized balls. Arrange the balls a couple of inches apart on the prepared baking sheet and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.

5. Dip each truffle ball in the melted chocolate candies using my favorite candy dipping tool or a fork and toothpick. Place the dipped balls back on the wax paper-lined baking sheet.

How Can You Decorate Them?

You can make Mint Cookie Truffles look extra festive by sprinkling toppings onto the slightly cooled truffles. Before the chocolate coating sets completely, try adding:

– Round colored sprinkles
– Cookie crumbs
– Mini chocolate chips – semi-sweet chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate chips all work!
– Crushed peppermint candies
– Crushed Andes Mint candies
– Chocolate drizzle
– If there’s excess chocolate after dipping, you can drizzle it onto the chocolate coating and let it harden. You can also use any other kind of melted chocolate you have on hand.

These truffles are delicious on their own, but you can make some slight variations for even more pizzazz! Some ideas:

  • For an extra dose of mint, add peppermint extract or mint extract to the mixture – about ¼ teaspoon should do.
  • Turn these into mint chocolate Oreo truffles by adding crushed Oreos to the truffle mixture. Don’t forget to garnish with some chocolate cookie crumbles!
  • You can add crushed peppermint candies or candy canes into the truffle mixture, too. It’ll give these treats some yummy crunch.

Notes

  1. Use different colored sprinkles to match the holiday or special occasion.
  2. If you are using sprinkles, there’s no need to reserve the extra cookie crumbs and you’ll actually get 16 truffles instead of 15.

  1. Do u use the oreos in place of the other cookies or add them in ? How much do you use

  2. Sue Lanter says:

These look and sound delicious. I want to make them for Christmas. I don’t have a food processor or blender. Is there another way to finely crush the cookies?

    1. You could crush them in a large bag with a rolling pin, not sure how fine they will get though with that method.
