Ingredients For Homemade Berry Lemonade
This homemade lemonade recipe combines the juice from fresh lemons with cold water and a 3-ingredient berry simple syrup. If you’ve never made homemade simple syrup, it’s super easy and takes just 30 minutes or less. I promise the fresh, fruity flavor is worth the time investment!
To make homemade berry simple syrup, you will need frozen mixed berries, granulated sugar, and water. I just grabbed a bag of Trader Joe’s Organic Mixed Berries, but any frozen mixed berries will get the job done!
How To Make Berry Lemonade
- Prepare the homemade berry simple syrup by combining frozen mixed berries with granulated sugar and water in a medium saucepan.
- Simmer the berry mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the berries have burst and broken down.
- Wash the lemons, slice them in half, and then use a citrus press to squeeze the juice out of the lemons into a liquid measuring cup.
- Remove the simple syrup mixture from the heat and allow it to cool. Afterward, strain the mixture into a pitcher.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water into the pitcher of berry simple syrup. Then stir to thoroughly mix the Berry Lemonade.
- Stir lemon slices into the pitcher of lemonade. Serve and enjoy!
Rebecca’s Tips
- Use a potato masher to break up the berries as they simmer in the pot. This will cause them to release as much of their yummy juice as possible, resulting in the best simple syrup!
- For perfectly smooth simple syrup, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to eliminate any seeds or chunks. As you strain the syrup, be sure to squeeze the mixture to get every last drop of berry juice that you can!
- Feel free to add additional simple syrup to the recipe to sweeten it to your liking. You can also microwave equal parts sugar and water until dissolved to make a plain, simple syrup to add sweetness without more berry flavor.
- To get the most juice out of your lemons, roll them on the counter using the palm of your hand with a bit of pressure before slicing them in half.
- If you don’t have a citrus press, you can squeeze the lemons by hand or press a fork, spoon, or potato masher into their centers.
- Add 3 cups of lemon-lime soda for a sweet fizz or 3 cups of club soda for a light and refreshing bubble!
- Adjust ratios as you go to create the desired sweet or tart flavor that you prefer in lemonade!
Helpful Lemonade Tools

How To Store Berry Lemonade
Store Homemade Berry Lemonade in a large pitcher in the refrigerator to preserve it and prevent the berry simple syrup from spoiling. Enjoy the fruity lemonade for 5 to 7 days!

Mixed Berry Lemonade Recipe
Ingredients
Simple Syrup
- 12 ounces frozen mixed berries I used Trader Joe's Organic bag
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 1¼ cups water
Lemonade
- 1 cup lemon juice from about 10 to 12 lemons
- 1⅓ cups berry simple syrup whole batch from above
- 6 cups cold water
- 2 lemons sliced for garnish
- ice
Instructions
- Prepare the syrup by combining 12 ounces frozen mixed berries, 1½ cups granulated sugar, and 1¼ cups water in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the berry syrup mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer for 20 minutes; the sugar should have dissolved, and the berries should be bursting and breaking down.
- While the simple syrup simmers, wash the lemons, then slice them in half, and use a citrus press to squeeze the juice out of the lemons into a liquid measuring cup to get 1 cup lemon juice.
- Remove the syrup from the heat and allow to cool in the pot for 20 minutes, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve, squeezing the berries to extract as much juice as possible.
- In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice, 1⅓ cups berry simple syrup, and 6 cups cold water.
- Slice 2 lemons into 8 slices and add 4 to the lemonade, then stir to combine.
- Serve in a highball glass with ice and garnish each with a lemon slice and berries. Serve with a straw.
Notes
- This lemonade is on the tart and vibrant side; feel free to add additional simple syrup if desired. You can microwave equal parts sugar and water until dissolved to make plain, simple syrup.
- For a sparkling lemonade, add 3 cups lemon-lime soda for a sweet fizz or club soda for a light and refreshing bubble.
- Adjust ratios for the desired sweetness and tartness.
