This Is The Best Sauce For Fish Tacos!

Fish Taco Sauce will be an instant hit with your family! I’ve never been a huge fish lover, but I do enjoy a good grilled fish tacos recipe every now and then. When I was in Mexico last month, we ordered some that were pretty much fresh out of the ocean, and they were so good.

They had this amazing seasoning on the fish, but I think it was really the fish taco sauce that took them over the edge! Because nothing flavors up a taco like a good crema recipe on a bed of fresh fruits and veggies!

This recipe is the best blend of flavor! I usually do eat sriracha or fish tacos … but I decided to try this out, and wow! My tastebuds were delighted! It was so delicious! I can’t wait to try it on other foods. So quick and easy to make. I will definitely recommend it, and it will be something I’ll make again!!!!! Thank you for the recipe. You just got a new follower and fan!

Readers love this recipe and have also been using it on burgers and as a vegetable dip! So I can’t wait to try this great recipe on those next! I bet it adds a nice zing to a grilled summertime burger! What will you use this sauce on?

This sauce adds a yummy creaminess to balance the light and fresh ingredients traditionally in fish tacos!

How Do You Make A Crema?

Making this sauce recipe is really easy to do!

  1. Begin by combining the sour cream, mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, and salt together in a small bowl.
  2. Next, chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours so the flavor can build.
  3. Finally, serve it fish tacos or anything else your heart desires!

It’s very important to let this fish taco sauce chill for at least 2 hours before first using it so the flavor can build.

I promise this Fish Taco Sauce will take your tacos to the next level. My family loves the flavors in this sauce; it’s a great mix of spicy sriracha, earthy cumin, and zesty lime with a bit of garlic and salt. You could add a couple of dashes of hot sauce for some kick too!

How To Serve This Sauce

When you combine it with fresh ingredients like pan-seared or grilled white fish or Mahi Mahi, avocados, pico de gallo, and fruit. Wrap it all in flour or corn tortillas, and you’re in for a delicious dinner loaded with flavor!

Fish tacos are best served right after the fish is done cooking. This means you’ll want to prep your sauce at least two hours before cooking and make sure any other ingredients are prepped too so you’re ready to assemble and enjoy everything fast.

Not only is it delicious on tacos, but it goes great on Steak Fajitas, too!

Fish Taco Toppings

I find that a great slaw can go a long way in tacos, but it’s the sauce that really brings everything together. Pickled red onions and avocado are other favorites of mine! As for cheese we tend to prefer queso fresco or cotija cheese. But you can use a shredded Mexican cheese blend also.

What Is Served With Fish Tacos?

Tacos can be great on their own, but if you want to make them a full meal, we love everything from cilantro lime rice and refried beans to seasoned french fries. And don’t forget to serve it with the best skinny margarita recipe!

Storing White Sauces

If you have leftovers, store the sauce in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!

This is soooo good! I keep this in the fridge all the time in a silicone squeeze bottle, but I normally make it with Greek-style yogurt instead of sour cream. (I usually have the former on hand and do not have the latter.) Not just on _fish_ tacos–sometimes I have it over sauteed ground beef on a big bed of lettuce.

Can’t wait to make this, given all of the great reviews! Do you have a fish taco recipe to share also?

    1. This is the fish taco recipe I have. It uses frozen fish but you could make it with your favorite fresh fish as well.

For an absolutely shameless cheat–we use breaded fish sticks from Trader’s… Since I often have the sauce all made in a squeeze bottle in the fridge along with Trader Joe’s organic soft tacos (which my husband eats for lunches), this is a last minute dinner that literally goes together in 10-15 minutes. I use 1-1/2 or 2 fish sticks per taco with some lettuce greens, shredded carrots and the sauce. Super yum.

Thanks for the recipe! I had shrimp and had no idea what to do with it! Aagh quarantine cooking! Found this recipe and already had everything! So I decided to make grilled shrimp tacos. This sauce was easy to whip up and delicious! I even shredded some cabbage and used some of this sauce to mix it with! Made a perfect slaw to go under the shrimp!

This is really a good sauce. I didn’t have any sriracha, so I used Chipotle sauce and it really added a nice flavor to it. Thanks!

My favorite sauce ever!!! But Iโ€™ve seen this recipe on someone elseโ€™s blog post a looooong time ago! donโ€™t take peopleโ€™s recipes without giving them a shoutout!

    1. Hi Jordana, I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe. I believe you are referring to the allrecipes fish taco sauce recipe and while this has similar ingredients, it is different. My recipe has salt and cumin in it and has an increased amount of lime juice and sriracha for a bigger pop of flavor. Once three ingredients in a recipe are changed, it is considered an original recipe.

Hello! I really donโ€™t mean to be the Karen! Haha. It wasnโ€™t an Allrecipes fish taco sauce. It was a made from scratch blog post, & the ingredients are the exact same!

      2. Hi Jordana, Mine was published in January 2018 and the recipe from Tastes Better From Scratch was published in April 2018 so… the dates are at the top of the posts for your reference.
