How to make champagne jello shots

How To Make Jello Shots:

  1. Add champagne, sugar, and lemon juice to a medium saucepan. Sprinkle with the gelatin and allow to bloom for 3 minutes, do not stir.
  2. Once the gelatin has bloomed, heat the mixture over medium-low heat and whisk until the gelatin has dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the ginger ale, let carbonation fizz out and then evenly pour into shot glasses or small plastic cups and refrigerate for at least 2 to 3 hours until set.
  4. Sprinkle with edible gold stars just before serving.

How Long Does it Take for Jello Shots to Set in the Fridge?

This depends on a few things such as the size of the shot and the temperature of your fridge. I usually make 1-ounce shots and they take about 2 hours to set in my fridge at 37 degrees F.

Notes

I’ve never had great luck with shaped silicone molds, I’d recommend disposable little condiment containers or doubling the recipe and pouring it into a lightly non-stick spray greased 8×8 baking dish and cut into squares.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace the champagne with sparkling cider.
For a sweeter shot, try replacing the ginger all with sparkling grape juice.

You need to remind people that Champagne is alcoholic – people can still get intoxicated.

  2. What champagne did you use? Can you please give me brand and dryness

    1. You can use whatever kind you prefer in this recipe. We usually use Freixenet and we’ve used the brut and rose and prosecco with this recipe.

  3. I’m assuming the champagne is at room temperature? Just wanted to be sure.

  4. Do u have to add the cup of ginger ale? Can you replace that with just another cup of the champagne instead?

    Making them now!!!
They turned out perfect can’t wait to try them

  9. How many shits does one recipe make?

  10. Just attempted the recipe and there is way too much gelatin. I put in 2- 1 oz packets of gelatin into the boiling water and it solidified into gelatin bricks within seconds. We tried to add in the ginger ale / champagne and it is a foamy mess. Should we add the gelatin after mixing the champagne and ginger ale instead? Other recipes for champagne Jell-O shots are calling for 1/2 to 1/3 the amount of gelatin.

    1. Oh my goodness, Virgil, that’s supposed to be only 2 .25 ounce packets. I recently covered all my recipes over to a new program and some of the fractions didn’t convert well. I’m going to get this corrected and I’m so sorry for the inconvenience!

  11. You say not to use molds, but what about cookie cutters? Or is it just not going to be solid enough?

    1. I’ve never tried it with cutters, but it would likely work better than molds, some of the molds just have very small detailed areas, like the points of a star and the jello can get stuck in them.
